Easler, Stanley

Stanley James Easler, 74, of Adrian, Mich., died at his home with his family on Oct. 2, 2020.

Stan was born Aug. 14, 1946, in Hillsdale, Mich., the son of Dollie Marie and Orville Eugene Easler. He graduated from Morenci Area High School in 1965 and joined the Navy the same year. He became a Seabee attached to construction battalion MCB 11 and served three tours in Viet Nam between 1965 and 1969.

Stan was a man of many skills and talents. His favorite pastime was racing and rebuilding anything with a motor. As soon as he was able to drive, he was racing at Milan Dragway and later in life at Oak Shade Raceway.  He served on the Morenci Volunteer Fire Department in the 1970s.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s he worked as the head mechanic for the Adrian Public Schools bus barn. During that time he served as a reserve Adrian Police Officer until he made it a full-time career in 1984. On Feb. 28, 1991, he was awarded a Meritorious Service Commendation for Bravery while attempting to save a baby girl from a burn-ing house. He retired from the Adrian Police Department in February 2007 aft er 23 years of service.

Stan married Pamela Easler on Sept. 14, 2006. He spent his retirement years helping raise his great-grand-daughter Nevaeh Wright, working on motors and anything else that needed fixing for himself, family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Pam; sons Tom (and Cheri) Easler, Bradlee Easler, Adam (and Krista) Wright, Justin Wright, and Jarett (and Tamara) Wright; daughter Kristie (and Mark) Trapp; sisters Marian (and Jerry) Nel-son, Laura and (Don) Alcock, and Brenda (and Dave) Thomp-son; brother Merton (and Connie) Easler; grandchildren Jill (and Brandon) Kreighbaum, Jason (and Carmen) Easler, Ari Wright, Alys-sa Trapp, Megan Trapp, Liam Newman and Lia Wright; great-grand-children Seth Mayes, Brenya Glisson, Maisen Gauna, Joey Easler, Nora Easler and Neveah Wright;  mother-in-law Bea Peterson; and sister-in-law Tommie Peterson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joan Allen.
