Joyce L. Fruchey, 73, of Fayette, Ohio, died Aug. 8, 2020, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, Ohio.
She was born in Morenci, Mich., on April 22, 1947, to Melvin “Babe” and Pauline (Bacon) Jones. Joyce graduated from Gorham-Fayette High School. She married James Fruchey in Fayette on Sept. 11, 1965, and he survives.
Joyce worked for more than 25 years at her father’s business, Quality Tube in Fayette, as a bookkeeper and for other clerical duties.
She is a past member of the Gorham-Fayette Fire Department Fire Belles, was District Coordinator for Youths For Understanding, and was involved in the Fayette Athletic Boosters. In her free time, she enjoyed watching television–especially Judge Judy and Dr. Phil—loved to read V. C. Andrews books, and loved all animals. She enjoyed feeding the birds, dogs, and she had a pet Wallaby.
In addition to her husband, Joyce is survived by sons Brian (and Lesley) and Corey (and Melanie) Fruchey; grandchildren Hailey, Mackenzie (and Jake McVay), Alexis, Kelsey and Trista Fruchey, and Tyler (and Mariah) and Katelyn Downing; great-grandchildren Tate and Asa Downing; and brother, Jim (and Sandy) Jones.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at Eagle-Marry Funeral Home in Fayette. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing regulations, only a limited number of individuals will be allowed in the funeral home and masks are required. Private funeral services will follow visitation, with a public burial after at Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. Pastor Jeff Bandy of the Fayette United Methodist Church will officiate.
