John Morris Warren, 88, of Kirksville, Mo., died Aug. 5, 2020.
John was born July 24, 1932, in Hillsdale, Mich., to John Morris and Ione Cora (Densmore) Warren in Hillsdale, Mich. On June 14, 1952, in North Adams, Mich., he was united in marriage to Lucinda Ruth Phillips.
John graduated from Litchfield High School in 1950. He graduated from Grand Rapids Baptist Theological Seminary in 1958. Throughout his career he pastored five churches. He later worked as a child care worker for the V.F.W. National Children’s Home until he retired. After retirement he and Lucinda moved to Kirksville.
John was a member of Grace Community Bible Church in Kirksville. His passion was leading others to know the forgiveness of God through Jesus. He loved people and telling them of how Jesus changed his life.
John is survived by his wife; five children, Maurice (and Kathy) Warren of Brighton, Mich., Phillip (and Barbara) Warren of Norman, Okla., Patricia (and Steve) Jorden of Kirksville, Steven (and Jeanette) Warren of DeWitt, Mich., and Joseph (and Sharon) Warren of Lansing, Mich.; 13 grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson, Matthew Warren, Kevin Warren, Jonathan Warren, Karen Quinette, Beth Ann Hall, Caleb Jorden, Benjamin Jorden, Jeremy Jorden, Tyler Warren, Alyssa Warren, Tim Warren and Kelsey Hill; and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Owen Warren; and three sisters, Frances Estry, Helen Ballitch and Dorothy Wakeman.
Visitation is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the funeral home, with Pastor Benjamin Jorden officiating. John will be cremated following the service.
