Walter John Baker, 92, of Morenci, Mich., died July 16, 2020, at The Oasis of Adrian.
He was born April 4, 1928, in Toledo, Ohio, to Frederick and Mable (Fisher) Baker. On March 27, 1948, he married Donna Lea Borton in Angola, Ind., and she survives.
Walter served his country in the United States Navy and the Coast Guard as a Merchant Marine. He worked for more than 45 years as an industrial electrician, working at Reichert, Kewaunee and Champion Spark Plug. Walter was a member of the VFW and the Morenci American Legion. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
In addition to his wife, Walter is survived by daughters Peggy (and Brad) Jones, Idris (and Richard) Gurica, Dena (and Bill) Sauter, Denise (and Joseph) Calevro, Sally (and Hal) Holubik, and Veronica (and Dan) Perry; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bruce Baker; sisters, Freida Brown and Betty Etter; and a brother, Fred Baker.
Services will be private and interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.
