Ralph Piercy, 90, of Morenci, Mich., died July 7, 2020, in Adrian, Mich.
He was born Jan. 8, 1930, in Oakland, Mo., to Abner and Anna (Peterson) Piercy. He moved to Michigan in 1952 and married Janice (Weyenberg) Piercy on June 8, 1978.
Ralph was known as a loving husband, father, grandpa and friend. He had a friendly disposition and had a gift for only seeing the good in people. He loved life, and was happiest when he was outdoors or helping others.
During his years of employment, Ralph worked as a tool liaison at Tecumseh Products for more than 40 years. After retiring, he spent several years working as a crossing guard for Morenci Area Schools, where greeting the children was often the highlight of his day.
Ralph was a member of Medina Federated Church and was actively involved at the local senior center. He was loved by many, and never met a stranger that didn’t become a friend, thus earning him Morenci’s Citizen of the Year award in 1990. In his younger years, Ralph enjoyed camping with family and friends where he spent many hours fishing. He also enjoyed hunting, spending time on the golf course, and vacationing in Missouri.
In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by children Darrin (and Becky) Piercy, Donna (and Fred) Wolfe, Vonda (and Phil) Milosh, Deb (and Gene) Momyer; stepson Grady (and Danielle) Schaffer; stepdaughter Kelly (and Jamie) Williams; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brother Forrest Piercy; and former spouse and mother of his children, Doris (Jones) Schaffer.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Milosh; brothers Arthur, Sherwood and Elvin; and sisters Beatrice, Thelma, Ora and Lora.
A memorial is scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at Medina Federated Church, with Pastor Darren Lemmon officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to to Medina Federated Church or the Morenci Senior Center.
