Charles Edward “Chuck” Carncross, 91, of Johannesburg, Mich., died May 11, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
Charles was born Jan. 24, 1929, in Morenci, Mich., to Jason and Metha (Kime) Carncross. He served in the United States Army. After serving, he returned home and decided to serve another way by becoming a mail carrier in Morenci, from which he retired. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and a previous member of the First Congregational Church of Morenci. Charles was an avid bowler and golfer. He loved to travel the states and he collected various items throughout the years.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Eugene Carncross, Ruth (Carncross) Fenner, Russell Carncross, and Pfc. Ronald Carncross; his daughter Carla (Carncross) VanDeKerchove; and his granddaughter Stephanie Renee Carncross.
Charles is survived by his children Anderson (and Karen) Carncross, Thomas Carpenter, and Clark (and Thelma) Carncross; son-in-law Richard VanDeKerchove; grandchildren Jessica (and Richard) Carpenter-Smith, Joshua (and Kayley) Carpenter, Joseph (and Emily) Carncross, Katie (and David) Showalter, Nickolas (and Hayley) VanDeKerchove, Hunter VanDeKerchove, and Luke VanDeKerchove; and great-grandchildren Ombre Fowler, Isabelle Carncross, Harrison VanDeKerchove and Harmony Carncross.
Memorial services will be planned at a later date.
