Helen Myredith Cogan Bachman, 102, of Commerce Township, Mich., formerly of Jasper, Mich., died Feb. 24, 2020, at Westlake Health Campus, in Commerce Township.
Helen was born Sept. 24, 1917, in Grand Rapids, Ohio, to George H. and Hannah M. (Carter) Cogan.
She married Howard Samuel Bachman, on Feb. 5, 1936, in Wauseon, Ohio, and they made their home in Jasper, enjoying 51 years of marriage. He preceded her in death Sept. 24, 1987.
A 1935 graduate of Wauseon High School, Helen worked for 25 years at the former American Chain and Cable in Adrian, Mich. She was a devout Jehovah’s Witness for more than 80 years.
Helen is survived by her daughter Rebecca Morley and grandson Samuel Morley, both of Orchard Lake, Mich.; and two sisters, Betty Paxson of Wauseon and June Bowerman of Adrian.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Dolores Jeanne Bachman and Sandra Kay Arno; four brothers, Marion, Raymond, Emery and George; and a stepfather, Earl Price.
Funeral services are planned at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette, Ohio, with Pastor William VanValkenburg officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday.
