Jeffrey A. Sedlacek, 65, of Morenci, Mich., died Oct. 30, 2019, at his home, under the care of Careline Hospice.
He was born Aug. 19, 1954, in Adrian, Mich., the son of Frank and Jernice (Griewahn) Sedlacek. On Dec. 6, 1990, he married Vonda Vanderpool in Sand Creek, Mich., and she survives.
Jeffrey graduated from Sand Creek High School and earned a bachelor of business degree from Eastern Michigan University. He worked for Adrian State Bank, Lenawee Stamping, and most recently, at Ford’s Flat Rock Plant as a quality engineer.
Jeffrey loved his family immensely. He was known as a great dad, often being heard to say “If the kids can’t go, we won’t go.” He was a hard worker and loved to garden and build things. A notable accomplishment in his life was earning a position on the Eastern Michigan University baseball team and pitching for the Eagles in the 1975-76 College World Series. He later tried out for the Philadelphia Phillies in the minor leagues.
In addition to his wife, Jeffery is survived by a daughter, Karli Sedlacek, of Morenci.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Chelsey Sedlacek.
A memorial service is planned at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the Morenci Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Dusty Pauken officiating. Visitation is scheduled from noon Wednesday until the time of service.
