Lorraine Mannschreck, 81, of rural Morenci, Mich., died Aug. 8, 2019, at her home while under the care of hospice.
She was born Sept. 15, 1937, in Morenci to the late Richard and Yvonne (Verougstraete) Vereecke.
Lorraine graduated from Morenci Area Schools in 1955 and attended Siena Heights University in Adrian. For a time she worked for Ralph Kohn, an attorney in Morenci, and later as a billing clerk at the Morenci Area Hospital. She was a member of Holy Family Parish (St. Mary’s Campus) in Adrian and was formerly a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Fayette, Ohio.
Lorraine was known for her excellent seamstress abilities, doing alterations for weddings and such for people in town. She was also recognized for her cooking, baking pies, and creating her own recipes. She loved being in the company of her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Marion Mannschreck, whom she married Jan. 19, 2013; four children, Tammy (and Brad) Moes of Lincolnton, Ga., Donald (and Lynn) Crowell of Cement City, Mich., Lisa (and Tim) Brasher of Hudson, Mich., and Jack Crowell of Morenci; three step-children, Jack (and Ruth) Mannschreck of Waterford, Mich., Jill (and Neil) Hinkley of Morenci, Beth (and Dan) Bodette of Wauseon, Ohio; a brother, George (and Diana) Vereecke of Morenci; a sister-in-law, Pauline Vereecke of Fayette; eight grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Vereecke.
Visitation is planned from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at Eagle Funeral Home in Morenci. A funeral mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary of Good Counsel Campus of Holy Family Parish in Adrian (305 Division St.), celebrated by Fr. Tim McIntire, O.S.F.S. Rite of Committal will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.
