James “Chris” Wright, 54, of Morenci, Mich., died June 25, 2019, at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, Ohio.
He was born Feb. 16, 1965, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Ernest and Judith (Woodcock) Wright.
Chris served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and later worked as a corrections officer for the Michigan Department of Corrections.
Chris was an avid Nebraska Cornhuskers fan. He lived for his grandchildren and loved to spoil them. He was known as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 30 years, JoAnna Wright; his children, Eric Pearey of Council Bluffs, Iowa, James (and Callen) Wright II of Springfield, Ohio, and Amber Wright of Toledo, Ohio; three grandchildren, Cora, Tyrus and Shanel; siblings, Chuck Wright, Jamie (and Denisa) Wright and Crystal (and Scott) Grandstaff; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Visitation is planned from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home in Adrian. Funeral Services will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors by U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard is scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday, July 1, at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta Township, Mich., An additional memorial service will be planned in Omaha in the near future.
