Alan Keith Schoonover, 62, died Jan. 18, 2019, at his home in Tempe, Ariz., surrounded by his family, after losing a battle with cancer.
Alan grew up on a farm just outside of Morenci, Mich., and even though his family moved away when he was a teenager, Alan always considered Morenci his home town and would often return to visit with family and old friends.
Alan is survived by five sisters, Shirley Lynn Bort, Melanie Bruch, Vicki Bright, Tracy Weissgerber and Robin Roark; one brother, Byron Schoonover; Shirley (Wilson) Schoonover, his former wife of 35 years; one daughter, Liana Schoonover; and four grandchildren, Nokolina, Aleric, Aiden and Mason.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clifford and Evadna Schoonover, and Thelma (Hough) Henson; his parents, Marvin and Wilma (Hough) Schoonover; and two nephews, Matthew Tucker and Steven McGehee.
A memorial service is planned at 4 p.m. March 2 at Scottsdale 1st Church of the Nazarene in Scottsdale, Ariz.
