Richard C. Zook, Sr., 78, of Morenci, Mich., died unexpectedly, Feb. 15, 2019, at his home.
He was born Aug. 29, 1940, in Morenci, the son of the late Robert W. and Josephine A. (Cline) Zook. He married Jerrie L. Hartung on Feb. 4, 1962, in Junction City, Kan., and she survives.
Richard graduated from Morenci High School in 1958, retired from Lyons L.P. Gas Company as Vice President of Operations in 2001 with 30 years of service. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Morenci American Legion Post #368 and a life member of the Morenci Sportsman Club. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, woodworking, trapshooting and pitching horseshoes.
In addition to his wife of more than 57 years, Dick is survived by his children, Richard C. (and Ruthanne) Zook, Jr., of Noblesville, Ind., and Diana (and Joe) Overmyer of Morenci; three grandchildren, Joshua (and Halee) Overmyer, Melissa (and Travis) Overmyer and Kaylee Overmyer; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pat (and Steve) Winch of Morenci, Sally Snider of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Becky Terrazas of Adrian, Mich.; three brothers, Bill (and Sue) Zook of Adrian, Mike (and Stacy) Zook of Pennsylvania and Tom Zook of Jackson, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services are planned at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb.19, at Eagle Funeral Home in Morenci, with Rev. William Van Valkenburg officiating. Visitation is scheduled Tuesday from noon until the time of service. Military honors by the Morenci American Legion Post #368 will follow the service in Packard Cemetery in Seneca Township.
