John P. Lakatos, 70, of Sand Creek, Mich., died Jan. 12, 2019, at Hospice of Lenawee Hospice Home.
He was born on Jan. 25, 1948, in Adrian, Mich., to John and Eva (McKown) Lakatos. On Dec. 14, 1975, in Lyons, Ohio, he married Sharon Borland and she preceded him in death in 2014. On March 17, 2018, in Morenci, Mich., he married Janice Herriman Ries and she survives.
John was a member of Jasper Bible Church and he was a facilitator with the group Grief Share. He enjoyed car shows, tractor shows, farming, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Janice, he is survived by three daughters, Lisa (and Dennis) Richmond of Lake Wales, Fla., Trisa (and Mark) Iffland of Palmyra, Mich., and Kristy (and Manuel) Gonzalez of Winter Garden, Fla.; one sister, Mary (and Larry) Spurgeon of Alberville, Ala.; and six grandchildren, Kirsten Tripp, Mattea and Preston Iffland, Julia and Juan Gonzalez.
In addition to his first wife, John was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service is planned at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, with visitation beginning at 4 p.m. until the time of the service at Jasper Bible Church, with Rev. Bruce Jewett officiating.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Lenawee, Fairfield Township Firefighters Association or Jasper Bible Church.
