Ward Hough, 82, of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, died at home Dec. 21, 2018, surrounded by five generations of family members.
Ward was born July 12, 1936, in Lebanon, Mo., the son of Roy V. and Thelma (Henson) Hough. He married Kathleen O. Elliott on Dec 30, 1955, and she preceded him in death.
After graduating from Sand Creek High School, Ward joined the Army where he served as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Artillery Division.
Ward is survived by two children, Mike Hough and Mark Hough; three sisters, Kathy (and Jeff) Sallows, Sue Hobbs, Rita (and Jamie) McCowan, all of Morenci; nine grandchildren, Brandon (and Brandi) Palms, Tisha (and Eric) VanHouten, Tiffany (and Chad) Apaliski, Jason (and Melissa) Hough, Bria Palms, Christine (and Jacob) Judy, Nicole Hough (and Rob Metcalf), Sierra (and Rob) Reno, Kyleen (and Mike) Brellahan; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife of 49 years and his parents, Ward was preceded in death by a brother, Doyle Eldon Hough; a sister, Wilma Schoonover; a daughter, Wendy Hough; and a great-granddaughter, Brittany N. Jenkins.
Ward will be cremated and laid to rest at Sand Creek Cemetery, Sand Creek, Mich., alongside his wife on Memorial Day, May 27, 2019. A gathering at Weston Methodist Church will follow the service.
