Marion Monroe Hunt, 80, of Harker Heights, Texas, and formerly of Copperas Cove, died Dec. 21, 2018.
Marion was born May 18, 1938, in Adrian, Mich., to Celia Hunt. Shortly after graduation from Morenci High School in 1958, he joined the United States Army. During his 20 years of service, Marion was stationed in Cleveland, Ohio, Germany, Ft. Bliss, Texas, Hollywood, Calif., and Ft. Carson, Col. He was a part of the Tet Offensive during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968 and he was a very proud veteran.
Marion loved helping with the Boy Scouts when his sons were young which included serving as a wood badge counselor. After his retirement, he moved to Las Vegas and worked at the Desert Inn and enjoyed it when a movie star would come in. In 2001, he moved to the Fort Hood area. Marion was known as a kind, funny, generous and loving man.
He is survived by two sons, John M. (and Terri Black) Hunt of Harker Heights, Donald M. (and Toni) Hunt of Clarksville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, Jonathan, Kevin, Kyle, Cody, Jamie, Calie, Amanda, Ashley and Brandi; and five great-grandchildren, Cameron, Addison, Isabelle, Blair and Keller.
Graveside services are planned at 9 a.m., Monday, Dec. 31, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
