Dale A. Schang, 84, of Fayette, Ohio, died Dec. 2, 2018, at Heartland of Waterville, following an extended period of ailing health.
Dale was born March 14, 1934, in Archbold, Ohio, the son of Arthur and Edna (Gerken) Schang.
He graduated from Gorham Fayette High School in 1952 and served as an ironworker throughout his career, primarily for Gurtzweiler Construction. He was a member of the Ironworkers Local 55 of Toledo and Northwest Ohio.
Dale married the love of his life, Ann Davis, on July 24, 1954, in Burlington, Ohio, and she survives. He and Ann were members of the Fayette Christian Church-Disciples of Christ. He was also an avid Detroit Tigers and Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Beverly Biddix of Fayette; two sons, Brian (and Kristen) Schang of San Antonio, Texas; and Mark Schang of Wauseon, Ohio; sisters Carolyn Kline of Mesa, Ariz., Mary Heath of Fayette, Linda (and Grif) Griffiths of Fayette, and Ruthann (and Paul) Barnaby of Metamora; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Weldon and Larry Schang.
Visitation is planned from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette. Funeral services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Rev. Gene Sugg officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette.
