Jeanette Dawn “Bana” Sallows, 78, of Morenci, Mich., died Nov. 29, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family and in the care of Hospice of Lenawee.
She was born Jan. 22, 1940, in Medina, Mich., to Oliver and Betty Jane (Taylor) Keller.
Jeanette was a 1958 graduate of Morenci High School and earned an associate’s degree in business from Stautzenberger Business College. She married the love of her life, Albert W. Sallows, on May 16, 1959, at Morenci First Baptist Church, and he survives.
She began her career working as a secretary for Judge Leland Kirby and Pennington LP Gas Company. Jeanette found great success in direct home sales. As a sales representative for Lady Remington Jewelry and Petra Fashions, she earned the status of #1 in sales nationwide for five years in a row. Her success also gave her and Albert the opportunity to travel the world, something they enjoyed doing together.
Jeanette and Albert were active members of the First Baptist Church in Morenci for more than 50 years where she faithfully served the Lord as the choir director and led the ladies ensemble. After the church closed, they became members at the Ogden Church in Adrian, Mich. In addition to her work and service at the church, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, plus attending their sporting events. She will always be remembered for her beauty and elegance in everything she touched.
In addition to her husband, Albert, she is survived by two children, Marc Sallows of Luna Pier, Mich., and Marnette Sutherland (and fiancé, Eric May) of Blissfield, Mich.; four grandchildren, Lyndrea (and Seth) Borton, Larissa Sutherland, Jordan Sutherland and Nicole Sallows; four great-grandchildren, Tatum, Ryder and Cruz Borton, and Harper Kneafsey; and her sister, Marilyn Bragg of Phoenix, Ariz.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Mahlon Keller, and her sister, Audrey Ferguson.
Visitation is planned from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at Eagle Funeral Home in Morenci. Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Dan Crist officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.
