Jack D. Sutherland, 85, of rural Morenci, Mich., died Nov. 28, 2018, at Henry Ford Allegiance Health in Jackson, Mich.
Jack was born March 11, 1933, in Medina Township, the son of the late Girth and Alice (Ranger) Sutherland.
He was a 1951 graduate of Morenci Area Schools and lived his entire life in Morenci. He married the love of his life, Nina L. Sager, on June 19, 1953, in Seneca Township, and she survives.
Jack worked at the former Parker Rust Proof Company in Morenci and retired in 1991. Remembered for his outgoing and friendly personality, Jack loved to socialize everywhere he went. He was skilled in refinishing furniture and cabinetry and light woodworking. He was very family-oriented, and enjoyed annual vacations with his family and family get-togethers during the holidays.
In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by two sons, Rick (and Laureen Cahill) Sutherland of Pelham, Ala., and Randy (and Kay) Sutherland of Troutdale, Ore.; two daughters, Roxann Sutherland of Morenci, and Ronda (and Louis) Bill of Morenci; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mike Glendening.
Visitation is planned from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at Eagle Funeral Home in Morenci. Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill VanValkenburg officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.
Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Hospice of Lenawee.
