Carver W. “Jr.” Wagner, 74, of rural Fayette, Ohio, died Oct. 20, 2018, at Fulton Manor.
He was born April 2, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Carver and Catherine (Merten) Wagner.
Jr. was a 1962 graduate of the former Chesterfield High School. Then, in the midst of the Vietnam War, he selflessly enlisted to serve his country as a member of the United States Army. He spent the majority of his working career with Cooper-Standard in Archbold, and formally retired in 2009.
In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and camping, and was an avid fan of NASCAR, University of Michigan football, and Detroit Tigers baseball. Jr. proudly upheld memberships with the Morenci American Legion Post 368 and the Fayette American Legion John Dale Post 143.
Jr. married Linda L. (Link) Smith on Sept. 8, 1990, in West Unity, Ohio, and she survives. Other survivors are his children, Michael (and Maria) Wagner of Archbold, Ohio, Diane (and Carmen) Molitierno of Morenci, Mich., Tim (and Sue) Smith of Manitou Beach, Mich., Tamara Griffiths of Montpelier, Ohio, Todd Smith of Fayette, and Shawn (and Kellie) Smith of Wauseon, Ohio; a sister, Eileen (and Paul) Taylor of Morenci; two brothers, Ken (and Connie) Wagner of Fayette and Marty (and Diana) Wagner of Morenci; 19 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is planned at noon Thursday, Oct. 25, at Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. William VanValkenburg officiating. Military honors, provided by the Fulton County Honor Guard, will conclude the service. Private interment will be made at a later date in the Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette.
