Vanderveer, Judy

Judy Vanderveer, 77, of Morenci, Mich., died Oct. 19, 2018, at Hospice of Lenawee Home in Adrian, Mich., following a recent decline in health.

Born July 7, 1941, on the family farm in Chesterfield Township, Fulton County, Ohio, she was the daughter of John William and Marvel Avis (Osmun) Dopp. She married Robert Vanderveer on July 16, 1988, and he preceded her in death Nov. 3, 2000.

Judy graduated from Chesterfield High School in 1958. She was formerly employed by J.C. Helfrich & Son, Inc., egg processing plant in Waldron, Mich. She also worked for the Adrian Daily Telegram as a paper carrier and later as a substitute mail carrier with the Clayton Post Office.

 Robert and Judy were both baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses on Aug. 8, 1989, and had many friends while with the Morenci Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  After Robert passed away, Judy became a member of the Adrian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where she remained faithful until her death.

She enjoyed spending time in nature watching birds and squirrels. She also had a green thumb for gardening. She had a love for playing a game of Yahtzee, Pepper, or Uno with family and friends. She was known for her cooking and involvement in family gatherings.

Judy is survived by a step-son, Michael Vanderveer of Hudson and his fiancée Marliyn Kohlhofer, of Brooklyn, Mich.; three brothers, Paul (and Margaret) Dopp of Kosciusko, Miss., William (and Vickie) Dopp of Archbold, Ohio, and Dale (and Sherry) Dopp of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one sister-in-law, Lila Dopp of Fayette, Ohio; and numerous extended family members.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lyle and Roger Dopp.

Funeral services are planned at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette, with Steve Spaulding officiating.  Burial will follow in Lime Creek Cemetery in Medina Township, Mich. Visitation is scheduled Wednesday from noon until the time of service.
