Alice Sue Rice, 74, of Fayette, Ohio, died Oct. 18, 2018, at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, Ohio.
Born April 19, 1944, in Adrian, Mich., she was the daughter of Orman and Eleanor (Bourn) Tuttle.
Alice lived her formative years in Morenci, where she graduated from high school in 1962, and settled in Fayette for her adult life.
Family was a priority to Alice and she devoted her life to the welfare of her children and later her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and needlepoint, and loved to bake goodies for her grandchildren.
An avid reader, she was a regular patron at Normal Memorial Library. She collected Barbie Dolls, and was a longtime member of the Great Lakes Doll Club in Sterling Heights, Mich., where she attended monthly meetings, and served as both a treasurer and table host chair for the annual Grant-A-Wish Convention, an event that benefits children’s charities. Alice was a woman of deep faith, and worshipped weekly at Solid Rock Community Church in West Unity for more than 20 years.
She is survived by three daughters, Brenda (and Randy) Schang of Fayette, Beth (and Wess) Wolf of Morenci, and Julia (and Steve) Ruger of Fayette; her son, Jon (and Connie) Rice of Sylvania; her sister, Carol Fether of Acworth, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Andrew (and Wendy) Schang, Tasha Wolf, Austin (and Naomi) Wolf, Clayton (and Sierah) Wolf, Elijah Wolf, Rylee Ruger, Rhys Ruger, Tyler Rice and Luc Rice; five great-grandchildren, Addison, Dawson, Isaac, Kree and Lander; and a niece and nephew.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two nephews and her brother-in-law.
Visitation is planned from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette. Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Vic Cales officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette.
To continue her legacy of love of reading and love of children, memorial contributions are suggested Normal Memorial Library or the Grant-A-Wish Fund.
