Beverly Jane Ives Amos, 83, formerly of Fayette, Ohio, died Sept. 7, 2018, following several months of failing health. The last two months she was cared for at a nursing home in Woodstock, Ga,. where she died.
Beverly was born May 25, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio, to Alma Bacon Ives and Nelson Ives. At a very young age, Beverly and her siblings were orphaned by the death of their parents. They were raised by their grandparents Harvey and Edna Bacon in Fayette. Beverly attended all 12 grades of school at Gorham Fayette and graduated with the class of 1953.
Following graduation, Beverly married Earl Shettel of Bryan, Ohio, and they made their first home at Williams Center, Ohio. They later moved to the West Coast, living in Vancouver, Wash., and La Vern, Calif.
Following Earl’s death from a boating accident in 1980, Beverly married Charles Amos and moved to California. Charles developed golf courses and Beverly became an avid golfer.
Following Charles’s death in 2008, she made her home with daughter Martha Bishop of Canton, Ga., living there until the time of death.
In addition to Martha, Beverly is survived by another daughter, Patty Kennen, of Anderson, Calif.; an aunt, Pauline Jones, of Fayette; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Earl Shettel and Charles Amos; son Michael Shettel; sister Joan Ives Evers of the Hillsdale, Mich. area; and John “Jack” Ives of Vancouver, Wash., formerly of Fayette.
Beverly was cremated and ashes will be taken to southern California where a memorial service will take place at a later date.
