Philip E. Stiverson, 85, of Adrian, Mich., and formerly of Morenci, Mich., died Sept. 12, 2018, at the Lenawee Medical Care Facility.
Phil was born Sept. 10, 1933, in Hudson, Mich., the son of Dorr and Pauline (Drake) Stiverson. Phil was a graduate of Hudson High School. He married Joanne Gillen in 1955 and she preceded him in death Jan. 23, 1985.
Phil worked for Way Bakery in Adrian for more than 20 years, before serving as a groundskeeper at the campus of the Adrian Dominican Sisters, a job he held for 23 years until his retirement. Phil was involved in his community where he served as a member of the Morenci Fire Department and was part of the chain crew for high school Bulldog football games. He was also a Mason.
An avid University of Michigan football fan, he was a season ticket-holder for more than 30 years. Phil had a fun-loving personality and loved to socialize in the company of others.
He is survived by a daughter, Sister Heather Stiverson, OP, of Detroit; two sons, Philip Stiverson and David (and Kim) Stiverson, both of Adrian; a brother, Jack Stiverson of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; three grandchildren, Luke, Sydney and Cooper; and a great-grandson, Keaton.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass for the soul of Philip Stiverson will be celebrated by Father Tim McIntire, OSFS, at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Adrian. Visitation is planned for one hour before Mass, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Rite of Committal will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Lenawee. Arrangements were handled by Eagle Funeral Home.
