Richard Allen Plum, 66, of rural Waldron, Mich., died, Sept. 6, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his family and caregivers.
He was born March 13, 1952, in Hudson, Mich., to the late Glenn William and Ruth Irene (Haynes) Plum.
Richard was a 1970 graduate of Pittsford High School. He worked more than 37 years at the former Hillsdale Tool. After it closed, he worked for several years as a sales associate at the Fayette and Pioneer Auto Parts stores.
A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed farming, driving tractor, and the seasonal tasks of mowing his lawn and cutting wood. In his leisure time, he could be found fishing, hunting, working on various engines, or woodworking. He was a proud family man who adored his family.
Richard and the love of his life, Christine Brehm, were united in marriage Feb. 10, 1973, and she survives. Also surviving are four sons, Richard (and Dorothy) Plum, Jr., of Casper, Wyo., Randy (and Manda) Plum of Bryan, Ohio, Rodney (and Carleena) Plum of Hillsdale, Mich., and Robert (and Amber) Plum of Waldron; a brother, Charles Plum of Waldron; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law, Tom and Mary Lou Brehm.
Visitation is planned from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at Eagle Funeral Home in Fayette. Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept.10, at the funeral home, with Rev. Dr. Samuel Wickard officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the Waldron Cemetery.
