Morningstar, Eleanor

Eleanor Morningstar, 93, of Morenci,  Mich., and formerly of Fayette, Ohio, died  Nov. 28, 2017, at Fairlawn Haven in Archbold, Ohio.

She was born Feb. 19, 1924, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Louis and Rose (Lanza) Bacotti.

Eleanor lived her formative years in New York, where she met the love of her life, Loren Morningstar of Fulton County, Ohio, who was stationed there in the Merchant Marines. They married three months later on July 27, 1946. The couple soon moved to Fayette where they made their permanent home and raised their family.

Eleanor worked as a bank teller before her marriage, and later served as the bookkeeper for Loren’s patented dog food brand, Star Dog Food, situated in Fayette. They co-owned the business for more than 47 years, selling at their retirement in 1996.

They were longtime parishioners of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Fayette, where Eleanor was a faithful Altar Rosary Society member and enjoyed working at the annual turkey bazaars. In later years, they became members of St. Caspar Catholic Parish in Wauseon, Ohio.

Eleanor loved to read, and would read almost anything that came through the mail. Her chief interest was health topics and she was always keen on living a healthy lifestyle. She fostered numerous family pets throughout the years and cherished their companionship. Eleanor was most passionate about her family, and she loved having them over for holidays and birthdays, where she would cook her Italian feasts and family favorites.
