Betty Berk, 86, of Lyons, Ohio, died Nov. 27, 2017, at the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon, Ohio.
Betty was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Lenawee County, Mich., the only child of Durwood and Tina (VanEtten) Tom.
Betty graduated from the former Lyons High School and lived her entire life in the village. She married Max R. Berk on Feb. 9, 1952, in Seward, Ohio, and he preceded her in death April 10, 2003.
She worked for several years for the former Brockley Photography Studio in Adrian, Mich., and later worked more than 20 years as a secretary for Lyons LP Gas. She was a longtime member of Inlet Mennonite Church in rural Wauseon, and also belonged to the Rebekahs. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, reading and traveling. In her younger years she loved shopping and crafting, and enjoyed baking cakes and pies. In recent years she enjoyed sitting peacefully outside on her porch.
She is survived by a son, Randall “Amos” (and Sandra) Berk of Lyons; a daughter, Merri Ann Wiles (and fiancée Norm Ortner) of Mission Viejo, Calif.; five grandchildren, Amanda (and Bobby), Whitney, Erin (and Nick), Kaycee (and Jordan), and Tiffany (and Adam); two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Maya; and a sister-in-law, Betty DeWulf of Fort Myers, Fla.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Lantz.
Cremation will take place and services will be private. She will be buried next to her husband in Lyons Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Lyons-Royalton Fire Department.
Arrangements were handled by the Eagle Funeral Home in Morenci.
