Loren E. Pennington, 79, of rural Fayette, Ohio, died Sept. 22, 2017, at his home.
Loren was born in Wauseon, Ohio, Jan. 21, 1938, the son of Everett and Catherine (Ely) Pennington. On Nov. 24, 1956, he married Arlene Mahnke, and she survives.
Loren had been a lifelong area farmer. He was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Wauseon where he had held numerous positions. For more than 30 years he managed the Pork Stand at the Fulton County Fair. He served on the Evergreen Board of Education for 20 years, and in 1998, he was inducted into the Fulton County Agriculture Hall of Fame. Loren enjoyed supporting the grandchildren at school and sporting events.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene; children, Gary (and Luann) Pennington of Fayette, Cindy (and David) Pinkelman of Delta, Ohio, Pam (and Gary) Wilson of Swanton, Ohio, Linda (and Tim) Good of Swanton and Joe (and Ellen) Pennington of New Bavaria, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene (and Robert) McCormick of Sylvania, Ohio; and a sister-in-law, Sandy Pennington of Wauseon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kendall Pennington.
Funeral services are planned at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with Pastor Dennis Mann officiating, at Emmaus Lutheran Church. Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, also at the church. Interment will be in the Wauseon Union Cemetery
Memorial contributions are suggested to Emmaus Lutheran Church or Evergreen Local Schools for the benefit of the Loren Pennington Learning Center.
