Gerald “Jerry” Edward Cutler, 78, of Uvalde, Texas, died Sept. 18, 2017, at his residence.
Jerry was born Aug. 29, 1939, in Elyria, Ohio, to Alfred P. Cutler and Fern E. (Hand) Newlin. He married Liz Ivy in Concan, Texas, on May 22, 2010.
Jerry grew up in Morenci, Mich., and graduated from Morenci High School. He loved football and enjoyed bowling and golfing. Jerry was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed riding all over the country. Sometimes he took his 80-plus-year-old mother for rides north of Uvalde in the Hill Country of Texas.
Jerry had many unique pets over the years, including a pair of skunks in his youth, and his beloved Toby, a wolf, chow and great Pyrenees mix. Jerry was more than 30 years sober and very active in AA in both Michigan and Texas.
He is survived by his wife of seven years; daughter, Jo Linda Cutler of Adrian, Mich.; two sons, Ricky Cutler of Adrian and Randy Cutler of Sturgis, Mich.; sister, Grace Kerby of Uvalde; brother, Tom Cutler of Adrian; and the mother of his children, Suzanne (Vaughan) Cutler; 18 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jody Cutler; a brother, Dale Cutler; and great-granddaughter, Hannah Iffland.
Cremation has taken place and burial will be in Texas.
A Celebration of Life luncheon is planned at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, at DAV Hall, 141 E Albert St., Adrian.
