Richardson, Betty

Betty Jean Richardson, 93, of Morenci, Mich., died Oct. 31, 2016.

She was born to Orval and Della May (Andress) Harden on March 30, 1923. She married Ken Richardson on April 26, 1944, in Irvine, Ky. Ken preceded her in death Aug. 4, 2016.

Betty was a faithful helpmate to her husband for 72 years.  She was known as the consummate homemaker to her family.  Her home was always clean but more importantly it was filled with her warmth and love for her children, friends, and guests.

She was involved in her Morenci community through the Church of the Nazarene by teaching Sunday School, serving as church treasurer, and working with their missionary program, ladies retreats, and Bible schools. She also made friends in the Morenci Garden Club, as manager of the Village Inn Restaurant, and through playing community softball. Betty pitched her last game at the age of 60.

She filled her free time with her waterskiing trips with family, crocheting, playing Rook with friends, doing puzzles, or reading. She is remembered by her family for her mouth-watering cinnamon rolls, and chocolate chip, sugar and molasses cookies.  No one could make a bologna sandwich, pizza or a roast taste better.

It was important to her to maintain her relationship with Jesus Christ by reading her Bible and four special devotional books and praying daily. Many have enjoyed spending time with her because she emanated God’s light, sweetness, and a peace that she received from the time she spent with her Savior.  She was a member of the Adrian First Church of the Nazarene.  She also attended Turning Point Church of Adrian.

She is survived by her children, Judy (and Tom) Britsch, Ken (and Diane) Richardson, Linda (and Randy) Marowelli, and Ed (and Myra) Richardson; her grandchildren, Julie (and Mike) Perrine, Christy Shaw, Tammy (and Josh) Powers, Tara (and Matt) Viens,  Tiffany (and Jeff) Domagalski, Tai (and David) Henson, Bart (and Melissa) Marowelli, Brad (and Erin) Marowelli, Brianne (and Nate) Coe, Diane (and David) Richardson Spaite, Audrey (and Peter) VanWylen, Taft (and Courtney) Richardson; and her great-grandchildren; Jaden (and Laura) Perrine, Kaitie Perrine, Grant Perrine,  Madalyn Shaw, Rachel Powers, Brenner Powers, Marlee Powers, Lily Powers, Drew Viens, Elise Viens, Davis Domagalski, Payton Domagalski,  Noah Domagalski,  Caleb Henson,  Ella Henson, Cole Henson, Reilly Marowelli, Reide Marowelli, Reigan Marowelli, Reiker Marowelli,Reiss Marowelli, Zeb Marowelli, Peter Marowelli, Griffin Coe, Malachi Coe,  Egan Coe and Isaac VanWylen; her brother, Robert Harden, of Bellville, Mich.
