Sherri Ann Dillon, 47, of Morenci, Mich., died Oct. 20, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice of Lenawee.
She was born Oct. 4, 1969, in Tampa, Fla., to the late Tim and Janet (Sekler) Diener.
Sherri grew up in Florida and moved to Morenci as a teenager when her family bought a farm. She graduated from Morenci Area High School in 1987. She married the love of her life, Kenneth M. Dillon, on April 16, 1999, in Toledo, Ohio, and he survives.
Sherri was employed with Morenci Area Schools for nearly 10 years, and most recently served as an office paraprofessional. She had a passion for the students, and was a very active volunteer in school and community activities. She served as a class advisor, chaperoned school events, helped coordinate after-prom events, served as union president, and served as the director of the Summer Recreation Program for the City of Morenci from 2002 to 2014. Prior to working at the school, Sherri worked at JC’s Party Store and a local florist shop.
Sherri is remembered for her creative spirit, and she loved crafting and decorating her home for every season. She loved spending spare time in her family’s swimming pool, where every year she would perfect her tan. Most especially, she enjoyed spending precious time with Ken and the kids, often taking peaceful walks together as a family.
In addition to her husband, Ken, Sherri is survived by two sons, Kenneth Dillon, II, of Orlando, Fla., and Koty Dillon at home; a sister, Holly Goldsmith of Adrian, Mich.; a half-sister, Dawn Young; several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister in infancy, Wendy Lee.
Funeral services are planned at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at Eagle Funeral Home in Morenci, with Pastor Darren Lemmon officiating. Burial will follow in Porter (Packard) Cemetery near Seneca. Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
