Mabel Jacoby, 100, of Fayette, Ohio, died July 10, 2016, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice in Defiance, Ohio.
She was born Nov. 15, 1915, in Williams County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Adam and Minnie (Siegel) Coulon. She married Leroy F. Jacoby on April 3, 1938, in West Unity, Ohio, and he preceded her in death Aug. 9, 1993.
Mabel graduated from West Unity High School in 1933. She was a devoted wife and mother, who assisted her husband in operating the family farm. She also ran “Mabel’s Market” near Harrison Lake, which featured her baked goods. She was known as a “people person” and a hard worker. She was also known for the fruit pies she baked.
Mabel was a member of West Franklin Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening.
Mabel is survived by two children, Richard (and Brenda) Jacoby of Archbold, Ohio, and JoAnn Weiss of West Unity; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (and Suzette) Jacoby of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Scott (and Sheri) Jacoby of Sylvania, Ohio, Crystal (and Doug) Bauer and Tiffany Weiss, both of West Unity; eight great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jason, Nicholas, Brian, Alexander and Melissa Jacoby and Alisha and Lance Bauer; and one brother, Dale Coulon.
A funeral service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 15, at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 N. Liberty St., West Unity. Burial will follow in West Franklin Cemetery. Visitation is planned from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
