Cox, Geraldine

Geraldine E. Cox, 94, formerly of Waldron, Mich., died Dec. 6, 2009, at Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Nov. 29, 1915, in Amboy Township, to William and Mildred (Hubbard) Robison. She married Leon W. Cox on Nov. 29, 1935, in Pioneer, Ohio, and he preceded her in death May 11, 1999.

Geraldine graduated from Waldron High School in 1934. She lived all her married life in Waldron, before moving to a medical care facility in Hillsdale in 2002. She was employed by the Avon Co. for several years, and retired from Kustom Fit in Pioneer, Ohio.

Geraldine loved gardening, camping, fishing, cooking, canning and watching birds from her kitchen window.

She loved working for the Lord and had Good News Club meetings in her home for many years. She taught youth and adult Sunday school and led many children to the Lord through her Bible teachings. She also helped young mothers with Bible study in her home.

Geraldine was a member of Munson United Brethren Church, the WCTU, the Women’s Missionary Society, and was church pianist for years.

She loved to play her saw whenever asked, and was manager of the Waldron Kountry Kitchen Band. She enjoyed visiting nursing homes and putting on programs for the residents. She also gave music lessons. Before she moved to the Bryan Rehab Center he was very active in the Hillsdale Nursing Home and loved playing for the Sunshine Singers.

Geraldine is survived by three daughters, Margaret (and Jim) Gunder of Waldron, and Audrey (and Richard) Andrews and Marilynn (and Robert) Frank, both of Bryan; one brother, John (and Joan) Robison of Ney, Ohio; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Lawrence, William, Paul and Arthur Robison; and a granddaughter, Paula Brandeberry.

Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson with Rev. Paul Webster and Rev. Samuel Wickard officiating. Burial will follow in Waldron Cemetery. Visitation is planned from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
