Isobar talks snow 2012.03.07

One inch in November, 5.3 in December, 6.5 in January and 6.9 in February. Along with 2.8 inches in March, that’s all the snow that’s come this way for the 2011-12 season.

Never has there been more than three inches on the ground during this unusual winter and time is running short for those who want some of the white stuff to play in.

There’s just a month remaining for snowy winter weather to begin, said Morenci climate observer George Isobar, and the odds of that happening aren’t great.

“We’ve had a few deep March snowfalls over the years,” Isobar said. “It’s usually the thick, heavy stuff that’s a real chore to shovel. And it usually doesn’t last too long.”

Admit, he added, winter as we know it just isn’t going to happen this time around.
