A recent By the Way column—a repeat from 20 years ago—caught the attention of Gene Beaverson the second time around. The column mentioned the visit from a former Morenci resident who was wondering about the house with a tree growing through it. Gene wonders if the geography in that memory was off by a few miles.
There’s a stone house southwest of Fayette that once had a tree growing through it, he said. It wasn’t exactly in the house.
A tree was growing close the original front and an addition was constructed around the tree. It was an enclosed room with the roof surrounding the tree.
The house still stands, but without the addition.
Gene would love to see a photograph of the tree house. He figures anything that unusual must be recorded somewhere.
