Morenci’s library serves me and many others in a number of different ways. There are many times when I need to send or receive a FAX, and also make copies of various pages. The computers also serve as extremely helpful to look up facts or data. It was amazing when I was looking for an old antique kitchen gadget and found several with the help of the library staff.
The library had an afternoon class which I found very helpful called Tech Time. We were able to learn many different ways to operate the computer or our cell phones (sometimes I’m not really sure if I’m smarter than our fifth graders). The volunteer teens and the staff are very accommodating.
This is only the tip of the iceberg as there are so many programs for the youths and young kids. From Baby/Toddler story times to book discussions for adults and teens to the Tech Time one-on-one classes and the Summer Reading Program and from the wonderful shelves of books to reading our local newspaper and so much more.
Stair District Library is an independent library governed by the citizens of the library district (through a board appointed by the City of Morenci and Morenci School Board). The school district does not contribute any funds to the library and with a steady decline in income sources, the library is requesting a 10-year millage at 1.25 mills.
Please join me in helping Step Up for Stair District Library on Aug. 4, 2015, and your support will help the continued success of the library to bring forth the many great programs and services.
