Water Loss: Addressing the issue 2015.07.01

It is good to see that the Village of Fayette is addressing what appears to be a persistent problem of water loss.

Whether measured by the value of non-billed water, the cost of production of that water, or gallons lost through leaks, it all amounts to LOSS.

With the grant assisted investment in new meters at the residential consumer level, the metering of raw water pumped from the newly repaired pumps at our well field, and the recording instruments at the water treatment plant, the Village has the tools to monitor the system on a daily basis.

With accurate data, Council has the ability to develop public policy that addresses non-billed users, set operational protocols and establish annual appropriations that reflect well planned maintenance and repair activities.

Open dialog is always appreciated.
