Bulldogs's success: Thanks for the great season

Morenci’s boys basketball team took fans on quite an exciting ride this season. From the rare solo league title to the first-ever state finals game, the Bulldogs and their coaching staff gave fans plenty to cheer about.

Despite having only two losses to start the tournament, Morenci was never ranked. The team toppled a well-established program and then a highly-ranked team on its way to the final game.

This year’s match-up in the finals was a special one, featuring two public schools. That’s something that has happened only five times in the past 43 years.

The community support backing up the team was impressive all season long and simply astounding at the finals game in the Breslin Center. The flood of maroon in the stands even brought tears to the eyes of one player.

Although the season didn’t end as the team had hoped, it’s a remarkable achievement for the Bulldogs to have made their first-ever appearance in the finals.

Thanks, players, for your hard work both on and off the court, and thanks, coaches, for your commitment to the program.
