Hutch and Hutch

In 1967, Joyce Hutchison accompanied her daughter, Teresa, to school for her first day in kindergarten. As the older, annoying neighbor, I always referred to Teresa at Tessie. It was Teddy and Tessie and, of course, their dog…dang, the name of that dog is gone from my memory. I used to run to the window and yell out its name just to get our dog my sister’s dog, Sam, excited. It was a dachshund, but the name is gone. That’s probably good. There’s so much useless garbage stored up on top and I really have no need to remember this dog’s name. However, I can remember that the Leitners’ chihuahua was named Butch.

I’m reposting a few old Yellowed Pages photos that were lost in the website upgrade. This morning I remember the name immediately: Maizee or Maizey.

As I re-read this, I remembered that my mother recently claimed that she’s the one who first started calling Teresa by the name Tessie. It didn’t go over very well, either.
