What a bunch of tough guys. These are the returning lettermen on Morenci’s 1967 football team. Little did they know they were about to embark on one of the worst seasons in Morenci High School history. Back row (left to right): bruising 140-pound fullback David Green, Curt Jones, Jim Johnston (the only one of us who amounted to much that year) and quarterback Jim Brink. Front row: Larry Shoemaker, David Keller, Jerry Slyker and Ken Richardson. This was the year we lost to Madison (an unheard of feat in those days) and Coach Rollins was so angry he made us push the blocking sled around the practice field after the game.
