Wyse, Ivan "Sparks"

Ivan L. “Sparks” Wyse, 79, of Archbold, Ohio, died Jan. 27, 2006 at his home.

He was born Dec. 4, 1926 near Archbold, to Jesse and Anna (Short) Wyse. He married Martha Borton on April 10, 1955 and she survives.

Ivan worked for New York Mineral & Mining in Panama for two years. He then worked for Miller Bros. Construction for 22 years and lived in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and Kentucky. For the past 25 years he and his wife owned and operated S-W Alfalfa Mills in rural Archbold. He served as director of the Ohio Blenders, Inc. and as president of the American Alfalfa Processors. He was a member of the Evangelical Mennonite Church in Archbold.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son Rex (and Joy) Wyse of Talihini, Okla.; four daughters, Jan (and Jerry) Stevens, Rachel (and Peter) Grieser and Kasey (and Joshua) Grime, all of Archbold and Jill Wyse of West Unity; 10 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three brothers, Dale (and Geneva) Wyse and John D. (and Sharon) Wyse, both of Archbold and Lester (and Lynette) Wyse of Brattleboro, Vt., and two sisters, Janice Wyse of Glendale, Ariz. and Judy (and Sanford) Wyse of Archbold.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bruce, and an infant daughter, Pamela.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at the Evangelical Mennonite Church with pastors Brad Bame and Charles Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow in Pettisville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mennonite Disaster Service. Arrangements were handled by Short Funeral Home in Archbold.
