He was born July 20, 1923, in Monroe, Mich., to Hazel (Schoonover) and Roscoe J. Mercer. He married Lee, the love of his life, in Seoul, Korea, on Feb. 16, 1962, and she survives.
Raymond grew up in Morenci. As a young man he joined the Army and traveled the world. After 21 years in the service, he returned to the Morenci area. He was employed at Fayette Tubular Products for 18 years before retiring.
He was a good man, a great mechanic, and loved life. He will be missed by his family.
Besides his wife of 46 years, he is survived by a sister, Kathryn Bristoll of Adrian; nephews Michael Bristoll of Adrian and John (and Tammie) Bristoll of Tecumseh; great-nieces, Amanda and Leyna Bristoll of Tecumseh and great-nephew, John Marcus Bristoll of Tecumseh. Raymond shared a special bond and his sense of humor with his great nieces and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a niece, Melody (Bristoll) Fetty.
Funeral services are planned at noon Friday, July 13, at the Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Rev. William VanValkenburg officiating. Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until service time.

Raymond L. Mercer, 83, son of Roscoe and Hazel (Schoonover) Mercer, died July 10, 2007, in Wauseon, Ohio.
Raymond served in Burma during World War II, in the Korea conflict and the Berlin airlift.
His ex-wife, Vincenzina (Polizzi), 87, preceded him in death Jan. 7, 2007.
Raymond is survived by a daughter, Stephanie (and Robert) McGowan of Marion, Ohio; grandchildren Robert and Carisma; one son, Major Carmen Raymond (and Emy) Mercer of Cinnaminson, N.J.; and grandchildren, Christopher, Victoria, Rachel, Jessica, Raymond and Matilda.
