Lennis G. Lucas, 82, of Waldron, Mich., died July 6, 2017, at the Evergreen Manor in Montpelier, Ohio, following declining health and a recent fall.
Lennis was born July 20, 1934, in Luray, Va., the daughter of the late Fred and Vertie (Hinton) Gochenour.
Lennis lived her formative years in Luray where she married the love of her life, James W. Lucas, on Nov. 25, 1954, and he survives.
Lennis and James have been residents of rural Waldron for the past 54 years, and she served her family as a farmer’s wife, homemaker and loving mother. She was a member of Freedom Farm and attended Betzer Community Church in Camden, Mich.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Larry (and Debra) Lucas of Morenci, Mich., and Chester (and Angela) Lucas of Waldron; two brothers, Nelson Gochenour of Luray and Garnett Gochenour of Stanley, Va.; three sisters, Hilda Moyer of Luray, Valda (and Marlin) Short of Archbold, Ohio, and Ruth Stump of Harrisonburg,Va.; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Lucas; four sisters, Joyce, Dorothy, Alma and Rena; and four brothers, Nevin, Elwood, Carson and Keith.
Private services are planned with Pastor Kim Repp officiating, and burial will take place in the Waldron Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson.
