Justin C. "Jack" Sutton, Jr., 92, of Hudson, Mich., and formerly of Lansing, Mich., died May 28, 2017, at his home.
He was born in LaGrange, Ind., on Jan. 4, 1925, the son of Justin C. and Dora P. (Radak) Sutton, Sr.
Jack graduated from Morenci High School in 1942 and Michigan State University in 1949. He served in the United States Army during World War II, in Co. B 164th Engr C Bn 45. Jack earned five Battle Stars and the Purple Heart.
Jack married Barbara J. Barrett on Dec. 27, 1947, in Morenci, Mich. She preceded him in death Sept. 26, 2009. He worked at Rolf Spinning Advertising for 20 years and the State of Michigan, Department of Commerce for 20 years in Lansing. Jack was active in the community and many organizations, including Morenci Masonic Lodge #95, Addison United Church, Lenawee Country Club, Devils Lake Yacht Club, Michigan Economic Development Association, Hudson Kiwanis Club, Hudson American Legion, and Hannan-Colvin Post #180, and he had D.A.V. National Life Membership. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, computers and playing cards, especially at the American Legion Hall in Hudson.
Jack is survived by four children, Justin C. Sutton, III, of Pawley's Island, S.C., Barrett G. Sutton of Traverse City, Mich., Tamara J. Sutton of Marietta, Ga., and Tyge R. Sutton of Lansing; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; grandson, Demetrius; and sister, Virginia Bunka.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Life Service is planned at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hudson, with Pastor Keith Porter officiating. Full Military Honors conducted by Hannan-Colvin Post #180 American Legion of Hudson will follow.
