William A. “Bill” Bismack, 63, of Morenci,  Mich., died at Hospice of Lenawee Home on Feb. 4, 2017, after a long battle with cancer.

Bill was born Aug. 21, 1953, in Sandusky, Mich., to Albert and Eleanor (Schumacher) Bismack of Minden City, Mich. He married Becky Ford of Morenci on Oct. 5, 2002.

Bill began his professional career cutting hair in the Metro Detroit and thumb area. He moved his family to Lenawee County in 1990 to pursue a career with the Postal Service in Jasper, Mich., retiring in 2012 due to his illness.

Bill was most proud of the fact he was a pioneer for the Single Father Movement, keeping custody of his daughter in the 1970s. His greatest joys in life were spending time with his three grandchildren and touring the country on his motorcycle.  Bill enjoyed playing in his golf league and rooting for the Tigers. His greatest asset was his sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by who knew him, along with all the canines in the Jasper area.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by a daughter, Tracey (and Rick) Warchuck of Six Lakes, Mich.; a son, Dustin (and Charity) McCullough of Morenci; a brother, David (and Shirley) Bismack of Warren, Mich.; a brother-in-law, Leo Booms, of Warren; grandchildren Blake (and Derick) Warchuck of Ionia, Mich., Anthony Warchuck and Rylee Warchuck, both of Six Lakes; in-laws, Donelda Ford of Morenci, Randy (and Lynn) Ford of Schoolcraft, Mich., Bob (and Kathy) Ford of Morenci, Ron Ford of Pittsford, Mich., Roger (and Carla) Ford of Morenci; Nellie (and Dave) Craig of Clayton, Mich., Elliott (and Marlene) Kolomak of Marlette, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Richard Ford; niece, Mandy Booms; and sister, Ruth Ann Booms.

Funeral services are planned at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, at Wagley Funeral Home, with Rev. Lloyd Jewett officiating.  Burial will follow at Packard Cemetery.  Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hickman Cancer Center, Hope Community Center or Hospice of Lenawee.
