Janet Elaine Bowman, 73, of Jonesville, Mich., died Dec.15, 2016, at the University of Michigan Medical Center.
Janet was born April 1, 1943, in Ft. Wayne, Ind., to Lester and Flossie (Ives) Lindeman. On June 25, 1961, she married Franklin Bowman. He survives.
Janet grew up in Morenci and graduated from Morenci High School in 1961. Shortly after graduation she married Frank at the Morenci United Methodist Church. The Bowmans made their home in Hillsdale County where they raised four sons and were active members of the Pittsford Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Janet was a homemaker whose children and grandchildren were always at the center of her life. In 2006, she retired from Farm Bureau Insurance in Hillsdale, Mich., after 25 years of service. In her spare time, she enjoyed baking, especially cake decorating, and ceramics. She and Frank also enjoyed traveling and camping.
In addition to her husband, Janet is survived by four sons, David (and Susie) Bowman of Lakeland, Fla.; Tim (and Christine) Bowman of Jonesville; Scott (and Becky) Bowman of Jerome, Mich.; Dan (and Nikki) Bowman of Jonesville; a brother, James (and Patricia) Lindeman, of Adrian, Mich.; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Trey Bowman; a half-sister, Norma Burr; and a half-brother, Karl Lindeman.
A funeral service is planned at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson, with Pastor Mike Wise officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
