James A. Marlatt, 82, of Packard Road, Morenci, died June 4, 2007, at the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon, Ohio.
He was born June 22, 1924, in Toledo, Ohio, the youngest of Clyde and Lulu (Sindel) Marlatt’s six children. He married Kathryn Sampson on April 22, 1944, in Seneca, Mich., and she survives.
Jim graduated from Sand Creek High School in 1942. He farmed and also worked in Adrian as a tool and die maker. He was unselfish in his active support of both his church, First Baptist Church in Weston, and the Morenci Area Schools.
Jim will be remembered as a generous and loving husband, father, uncle, neighbor and friend.
Besides his wife, Kassy, of 63 years, he is survived by his children, Jeanine Smith, Jerolyn (and Ron) Towne, Michael (and Sharon) Marlatt and their families; and 28 “kids.”
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rachael Hammer; and four brothers, Herman Louis, Sindel and Richard Marlatt.
Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday at Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci with Rev. Robert Farison officiating. Burial will follow at Porter-Packard Cemetery near Seneca. Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home.
