Barry Kent Bovee, 68, of Adrian, Mich., died Aug. 23, 2014, at ProMedica Bixby Hospital in Adrian.

Barry was born May 18, 1946, in Adrian to Keith and Helen (Rathbun) Bovee.  On May 20, 1992, he married Linda Hillman and she survives.

Barry worked in construction and retired from the Adrian Public Schools maintenance department. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Barry was a lifetime member of the 40 & 8, Adrian V.F.W. Post #1584, Morenci American Legion #368, and the AMVETS. 

Barry was one of the owner-members of the Addison gun and defense club.  Barry was the past National Chef de Chemin de Fer 2013 for the 40 & 8 and was Lenawee County Veteran of the year in 2013. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. 

In addition to his wife, Barry is survived by two sons, Scott (and Beth) Jessee  and Michael Jessee, both of Adrian; two brothers, Brian (and Janet) Bovee of Adrian and Forrest (and Beverly) Bovee of Morenci; two sisters, Carol (and Al) Pummell of McMillin, Mich., and Kathy (and David) Selman of Shelby, Mich.; three grandchildren, Jordan, Grant and Connor Jessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services are planned at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian, with Rev. Greg Burdine officiating. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park with full military rites conducted by the Adrian V.F.W. Annis-Fint Post #1584. Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Anderson Funeral Home, with 40 & 8 service  at 7 p.m. followed by a veterans walk through.
