Ida L. Joughin-Walter, 95, formerly of Morenci, Mich., died July 2, 2014, at Fulton Manor in Wauseon, Ohio, where she has resided the past five years.
She was born March 18, 1919, in Prattville, Mich., to the late Erie and Carrie (Burd) Gibson. She married Vernon Joughin in Angola, Ind., and he preceded her in death in May 1967. She then married Karl Walter and he preceded her in death in October 1998.
Ida lived her early life in Prattville. Following high school, she graduated from Riggs Beauty Academy in Hillsdale. She worked as a hairdresser and beautician for more than 30 years, and owned and operated Town and Country Beauty Shop near Hudson for several years. Ida was a member of the Ontario Club, and enjoyed playing cards, cooking, baking, crocheting, and the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Hudson United Methodist Church, and also attended the Morenci United Methodist Church.
Ida is survived by two daughters, Carol (and Don) Merillat of Morenci, and Barbara (and Jim) Longenbarger of Dundee, Mich; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, John; and her siblings, Harold, Zerma Irene, Marjorie, Maynard, Rolland, and A.C.
Funeral services are planned at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Eagle Funeral Home-Charles Fink Chapel in Morenci, with Pastor Donna Galloway and Pastor Don Merillat officiating. Interment will follow in Waldron Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled Sunday from noon until the time of service.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Morenci United Methodist Church or Fulton Manor.
