Phyllis Hintz, 82, of Morenci, Mich., died June 30, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her family and under the care of Great Lakes Hospice.
She was born April 11, 1932, in Lyons, Ohio, to the late Grant Leslie and Dorothy Mable (Richardson) Double. She married Roy Hintz on April 6, 1952, in Metamora, Ohio, and he survives.
Phyllis graduated from Morenci High School in 1950 and was a life-long resident of the area. She worked more than 17 years as a cook at DeMor Hills Golf Course near Morenci, and also was employed with several other local restaurants through the years. She enjoyed gardening, bowling and knitting baby blankets for her grandchildren and various friends. Phyllis was a member of the Weston United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, Phyllis is survived by two sons, Keith (and Kalli) Hintz of Winameg, Ohio, and George (and Lisa) Hintz of Sand Creek, Mich.; three daughters, Marsha (and Michael) Boothe of Pahrump, Nev., Trudy Fernholz of Morenci, and Sally Hintz of Lyons; two brothers, Leslie Double of Wauseon, Ohio, and Butch (and Bev) Double of Metamora, Ohio; four sisters, Audrey Hildreth of Delta, Ohio, Viola (and Lou) Hindall of North Baltimore, Ohio, Carol (and Ron) McCance of Wauseon, and Linda Willett of Adrian, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and seven step-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Gillespie.
A celebration of life service is planned at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, at the Weston United Methodist Church, with Pastor Dave McKinstry officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at the Lyons Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday until time of service.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Fulton County Relay for Life or charity of choice.
