Bob O. Laser, 77, of Waldron, Mich., died Jan. 3, 2014, at University of Toledo Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 10, 1936, in Hillsdale, Mich., the son of Raymond and Lettie (Sawdey) Laser. He married Jeanne Rorick on Dec. 20, 1955, in Angola, Ind.
Bob was a lifelong Waldron area resident, graduating from Waldron High School in 1953. He was a farmer for many years and later worked as a millwright, building grain elevators all over the country.
He was a member of Waldron First Church of Christ, Masons, Knights of Pythia and the Waldron Fire Department. He served as the marshal in Waldron for several years. Bob was an avid sportsman, playing catcher and basketball on the town teams. He coached Little League baseball and the Laser-Rorick church softball teams, and he was a great dancer.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by five children, Bartly (and Lesa), Bradly (and Debbie), Bently (and Wendy), Barry (and Nan), and Julie Laughlin (and Dave Pawson); 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Nancy Schang (and Bill Dusseau); one brother, Howard (and Colleen) Laser; one brother-in-law, Stan Smith; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Chloan Smith; and an aunt, Lois Laser
Funeral services are planned at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at Waldron First Church of Christ, with Minister Don Crain officiating. Interment will follow in Waldron Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Waldron First Church of Christ and Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements were made by Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson.
